What is Paging?
Paging, simply put, is a method for those attendees that are unable to participate in our combat system due to safety, injury, or age. While many of our players enjoy the combat system, it is by no means the only reason to come enjoy one of our events.
How to Attend as a Page.
If for any reason, such as injury, age, or any other reason (perhaps you just don't want to be hit with foam sticks that weekend) you wish to page for an event, all you need to do is to let our logistics team know at
info@mnalliance.com
. Once you go in game as a page during an event, you must page the remainder of the event, even if you feel you have recovered from the reason you decided to page.
The minimum age for a page to attend a game without parental
supervision is 14, although parental or guardian permission in writing
must be provided for any minor attending an event. In the event that
the parent or guardian is present at the event we allow children of at
least age 10 to participate as a page, contingent on being supervised
by their parent or guardian and with the understanding that both the
page and guardian may be asked to leave if their behavior is deemed
dangerous or disruptive to the event.
Playing as a Page.
All pages must wear a easily visible orange headband at all times, this allows other players to easy see that you are paging and that they are not allowed to engage you in combat. As a page you may not participate in regular combat either by swinging a weapon, throwing weapons, or by throwing spell packets. You are allowed to cast spells by touch on friendly players, and perform other skills outside of combat such as repairing armor through black smithing, using healing arts and first aid.
For safety other players are not allowed to attack pages through our usual combat system. Instead players must call "Page <effect>" from within ten feet. This includes weapon blows, spells, or any other effect, while it may seem a bit odd to call a weapon blow on a page from a distance, this is allowed to ensure that pages are not involved in general melees. Any Call of 'Page <effect>' must be taken by the page, so a 'Page 5 normal' would mean the page takes 5 damage as if they had been hit for 5 damage by a weapon. Similarly 'Page, with mystic force I pin you' means the page must stay in their currently location as long as it is safe to do so. If as a page you cannot properly portray and effect (such as being unable to move etc.) then the page should say to any player approaching them 'Visibly <effect>'
i.e. pinned, webbed, prisoned etc.
Aside from the above rule modifications, pages are afforded no extra in game protection or benefits and your character must deal with the consequences of the game in the same manner as if you were not paging. |
